1910´s
"Long hair and hairdo´s"
In the beginning of the 20th century, it was popular to have long hair and wear it in a "messy" hairdo or coiffure. Often worn with some kind of hair decoration or a hat.

1920´s
"Short and wavy"
1920´s hair was mostly short, and often styled as a straight "bob" hairstyle or smooth finger waves.
A popular curling technique was "marcelling", in which hot tongs were used to create a wave. It was first introduced in the late 1800´s.

1930´s
"Soft and wavy"
1930´s hairstyles weren´t that different from the previous decade, but the hairstyles did become a bit longer and the waves a bit softer and smoother, and not as "firm".

1940´s
"Soft locks and victory rolls"
Pin curls and victory rolls is probably the first words that pop up in your mind when you think of 40´s hair. Queue curl and chignon are also two very famous hairstyles and accessories like bows, hairnets, pins and flowers became more and more popular.

1950´s
"Long or short, straight or curly"
Hairstyles in the 50´s were somewhat mixed, it could be long curls, short "pixie"and different hairdo´s. For example, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Gina Lollobrigida, Shirley Maclaine and Julie Andrews were famous short-haired ladies. So in my opinion, it wasn´t just long, golden locks that ruled that decade in the hair section. 😉

1960´s
"Big and teased"
Personally, I feel like 1960´s hair was either simple and natural or big and fluffy.
Beehive is one of the most famous hairstyles from that decade and all the stars at the time had their hair styled like that, Brigitte Bardot, Priscilla Presley, Audrey Hepburn, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand and Tippy Hedren, just to name a few. 😊
